Understanding the therapy process

School based therapeutic intervention is facilitated to offer minimal disruption to a child’s education and daily routine.

Class schedules and activities and favoured lessons are taken into consideration to ensure children attend sessions at the most suitable time.

Sessions do not take place during lunch breaks or breaktimes as this is a child's playtime and important for their mental wellbeing.

In certain schools I am also able to offer sessions before school (at 08:00am) and after school at 15:30hrs

I collaborate closely with staff, parents or caregivers. Teamwork is essential for maximizing the impact and effectiveness of Play Therapy.

Working alongside adults who know a child best helps achieve best outcomes.

I provide 1:1 Play Therapy sessions in the following schools in South Buckinghamshire:

  • Elangeni School, Amersham

  • Chalfont St. Giles Infant and Junior Schools

  • Chalfont St. Peter Infant School

  • Chalfont St. Peter Academy School

  • Seer Green C of E Combined School, Seer Green

  • St Mary all Saints C of E Primary School, Beaconsfield

I currently have some limited availability to work in other schools locally so please contact me to discuss how I can support a child in another school if required.

Knowledge is Power

I have researched extensively in common aspects of mental wellbeing in children. I try to share my knowledge of useful relevant publications, latest research, books and podcasts and videos selectively where appropriate and required.

I have created a comprehensive fact sheets. These are designed to be accessible and easy to read.

This helps reduce confusion and misinformation, by providing a reliable guide of facts and prevent overwhelm or conflicting data.

Supporting Families

Regular review meetings are scheduled to discuss appropriate strategies, progress, and next steps.

Nurturing the child-centred approach using reflective responses, choice giving, limit setting and growth mindset to support children to feel safe secure and understood.

The whole brain child approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of mental and physical health, advocating for a holistic perspective that nurtures both aspects for overall well-being.

For some children navigating the emotional and social challenges of transitions can be a daunting experience. Moving home or area, moving from infant to junior school or from Year 6 to Year 7 of Secondary school can all be hard.

Big changes especially for those with anxiety or additional needs can be supported through group therapy with others feeling similar concerns leading to a more smooth adjustment. Weekly small group therapy available in primary schools locally from Summer 2026.
